Adopt - A - Book!

Today, September 8th, is International Literacy Day

Did you know that as of 2022, 21% of adults in the United States are considered illiterate? While most adults who are literate can’t read or write beyond a sixth grade level?

In 2013, 66% of fourth graders nationwide were unable to read at a fourth grade level or beyond.

Literacy is one of the most important skills we can have. It allows us to be informed, it allows us to communicate effectively, it allows us to become independent, and yet we still have a significant number of our population unable to read and write who are therefore left with notable disadvantages.

We at Goudelock and the 3 Bears Publishing believe that literacy is knowledge and knowledge is power. Everyone deserves the power of literacy and the best way to encourage that skill into adulthood is by helping to develop and nurture it in childhood.

That’s why, for this International Literacy Day we are launching our month long Adopt-A-Book Program! From today until October 9th you can adopt a book from our collection and have it sent to any child, adult, or organization you choose.

We know we can’t reach every child (or adult) who could benefit from reading and seeing one of our books on our own and it’s our hope that through this Adopt-A-Book program YOU can help us bridge the literacy gap!

To participate in our first ever Adopt-A-Book program, fill out this form https://forms.gle/Xfhx3HmZRrSyTTwe8 to choose which book you’d like to adopt and to whom you would like us to send it. You will be given a link to payment upon completion of the form.
